"Not Your Average IT Professional"
What distinguishes a good IT technician from a truly exceptional one? Surprisingly, it's not solely about technical expertise. While technical knowledge is important, the ability to listen, understand, and effectively communicate with clients to deliver concise, on-budget solutions within deadlines is what sets the best apart. I believe that simplicity and functionality in both the design and implementation of IT solutions is critical to any project. After all "a build it and they will come" approach to technology will in most cases never successfully work without prior consideration of the human element.
Matthew Beard
I'm Matthew Beard, and I bring a unique blend of business acumen and technical proficiency to the table. After spending six years in management roles within the business sector, I made a pivotal decision to pursue my passion for technology. Today, I hold an MSc in Information Systems, a First-Class Honours Degree in Computer Science, and have gained additional business skills and innovation through relevant MSc credits. Thriving in an academic environment, I also undertook internships where I built database-driven, content-managed websites and developed a proof of concept for a collaborative purchasing platform.
In addition to my strong theoretical background in IT, I have amassed twelve years of experience providing IT support in the education sector. This hands-on exposure has allowed me to engage in a wide range of projects, from networking new builds for 300 students to overseeing large-scale multi-site Operating System deployments. Throughout every phase, from initial requirements gathering to deployment and final handover, I firmly believe that a balanced approach, blending technical expertise with interpersonal skills, drives true success.
